Ritucharya

As we know the nature and human being have close relation with each other. The changes in nature directly or indirectly affects human body. Hence it is necessary to keep your lifestyle updated according to the season.

To understand the Ritucharya better one must follow the given proverb,
“Enjoy every season, don’t try to stay in same one forever”.

  1. January- February (Shishir Ritu):

            Cold climate of this season may result in increased hunger. It is good to eat oily food(ex. Ground nuts, jaggery, coconut, sesame seeds) in this season.
    In the cold climate of January and February you must do Abhyanga half an hour before snana. This is good way to keep your skin moisturized.

  2. March-April(Vasanta Ritu):

           In this season climate may vary from cold to slightly hot, because of the hot climate the kapha from our body starts melting and it may cause cough and cold.
    It is for to avoid cold drinks, oily food, sweet and sour food items.

  3. May- June(Grishma Ritu):

           In summer season we should avoid heavy exercise, spicy and sour food. In this season energy level of our body may decrease to the extreme level, so it is good to keep drinking coconut water, milk, kokam juice, kairi panhe as well as you can have juicy fruits like grapes, water melon.

  4. July- August(Varsha Ritu):

            In Varsha ritu Vata doshas may occur as climate changes from hot to slightly cold. It is necessary to drink boiled water to avoid food poisoning. Eat high fiber food to get stronger immune system. Wash your hands regularly to prevent the spread of germs.

  5. September- October(Sharad):

            In this season the force of rainfall slows down and October heat starts putting head out. You should eat ghee, sweets, honey, Amla, grapes. It is good to avoid Chinese and spicy food, curd.

  6. November- December(Hemanta):

             The winter season starts in November. Due to cold climate of this season may cause increased hunger. It is good to have oily and fatty food in this season.
